Palermo Soho
Best for: First-time visitors, couples, food lovers and nightlife
If we could recommend just one neighbourhood for most travellers, it would be Palermo Soho.
It strikes a wonderful balance between being lively without feeling overwhelming. During the day, tree-lined streets are filled with independent boutiques, artisan coffee shops and small galleries. As evening arrives, the neighbourhood transforms into one of Buenos Aires' best dining destinations, with steakhouses, cocktail bars and outdoor terraces buzzing well into the night.
You'll still need short taxi rides to attractions like Plaza de Mayo, La Boca and Recoleta, but returning to Palermo each evening always feels like coming back to the city's most welcoming neighbourhood.
Recommended Hotel

For a first visit, we'd still choose Palermo Soho.
It offers the best balance of atmosphere, restaurants, safety, boutique shopping and evening energy. After spending the day exploring historic districts, returning to Palermo for dinner and a leisurely walk feels like ending each day in one of the city's most enjoyable neighbourhoods.
If luxury is the priority, Puerto Madero is difficult to beat.
If culture and elegant architecture are what draw you to Buenos Aires, Recoleta remains a wonderful choice.
