Where to Stay in Antalya, Türkiye

One thing we underestimated before visiting Antalya was how much your experience changes depending on where you stay.

At first, Antalya looked like one destination on the map. But once we arrived, we realized every area had a completely different atmosphere. Some parts felt historic and romantic, others felt beachy and relaxed, while some were clearly built for luxury resort-style holidays.

After exploring the city properly, here are the areas we genuinely think are best to stay in — depending on the type of trip you want.

Kaleiçi (Old Town) — Best for First-Time Visitors

If we had to recommend just one area for first-time travelers, it would probably be Kaleiçi.

This is the heart of Antalya — the part of the city that actually feels memorable long after the trip ends. The streets are lined with Ottoman-era houses, hidden courtyards, boutique hotels, rooftop cafés, and tiny restaurants tucked between cobblestone alleyways.

What we loved most about staying near Kaleiçi was how walkable everything felt. You could wander out in the evening with no plans and somehow end up discovering a rooftop bar, marina viewpoint, or local café without trying.

The atmosphere at night is especially beautiful when the old town lights up and the marina starts glowing below the cliffs.

Hotel We Recommend:

Tuvana Hotel - Special Class

This hotel feels perfectly matched to Kaleiçi’s atmosphere.

Built inside a restored Ottoman mansion, it has:

  • charming courtyards
  • traditional architecture
  • boutique luxury feel
  • walking access to everything in Old Town

It feels personal rather than corporate, which honestly made a huge difference.

Best for:

  • Couples
  • First-time visitors
  • Travelers wanting culture + atmosphere

Lara Beach — Best for Luxury & Relaxation

Lara feels completely different from Kaleiçi.

This area is more modern, polished, and resort-focused. You’ll find:

  • beachfront hotels
  • beach clubs
  • rooftop restaurants
  • wide coastal roads
  • upscale cafés

It’s ideal if you want a more comfortable, relaxing base while still staying close to the city center.

What we personally liked about Lara was the balance. It felt luxurious without being isolated from the rest of Antalya.

Hotel We Recommend:

Akra Antalya

This ended up being one of our favorite hotel locations in Antalya.

The views over the Mediterranean are incredible, especially during sunrise and sunset, and the location sits perfectly between:

  • Kaleiçi (Old Town)
  • Lara district
  • the coastline

What stood out most:

  • infinity-style sea views
  • rooftop dining
  • direct coastal access
  • peaceful atmosphere without feeling far away

After long days exploring, coming back here genuinely felt relaxing.

Best for:

  • Luxury travelers
  • Couples
  • Travelers wanting balance between sightseeing and comfort

Konyaaltı — Best for Beach Vibes & Longer Stays

Konyaaltı has a much more local and laid-back energy compared to Lara.

This is where you stay if you want:

  • beach mornings
  • long promenade walks
  • cafés by the sea
  • mountain views
  • slower pace

We really liked how lived-in this area felt. People were jogging along the waterfront in the mornings, families gathered at cafés late into the evening, and the whole area felt less tourist-heavy.

The mountain backdrop here is honestly one of the best views in Antalya.

Hotel We Recommend:

Rixos Downtown Antalya All Inclusive - The Land of Legends Access

This hotel gives you the best of both worlds:

  • resort feel
  • close access to Konyaaltı Beach
  • easy connection to the city center

The large pool areas and sea views make it ideal if you plan to spend more time relaxing instead of constantly sightseeing.

Best for:

  • Families
  • Longer stays
  • Travelers wanting beach + comfort

Belek — Best for All-Inclusive Resorts & Golf

Belek sits slightly outside Antalya and feels more like a dedicated luxury resort destination than a city area.

If your goal is:

  • golf
  • private beaches
  • all-inclusive resorts
  • spa days
  • resort-style relaxation

…this is probably where you’ll want to stay.

The atmosphere here is quieter and more self-contained compared to central Antalya.

Hotel We Recommend:

Regnum Carya - All Inclusive

This is one of the most luxurious resort experiences in the region.

Think:

  • massive pools
  • private beach access
  • premium restaurants
  • golf courses
  • full resort experience

It’s the kind of place where people check in and barely leave the property.

Best for:

  • Luxury resort holidays
  • Families
  • Golf travelers

Olympos & Çıralı — Best for Nature Lovers

This is the side of Antalya most people don’t expect.

A few hours away from the city, Olympos and Çıralı feel completely different from the resort areas. The atmosphere becomes slower, greener, and more connected to nature.

You’ll find:

  • treehouse stays
  • quiet beaches
  • hiking trails
  • ancient ruins hidden in nature

What we loved most was how peaceful everything felt compared to central Antalya.

Hotel We Recommend:

Kimera Lounge

A smaller boutique-style property that fits perfectly into the relaxed atmosphere of Çıralı.

Best parts:

  • surrounded by greenery
  • walking distance to the beach
  • calm atmosphere
  • beautiful breakfast setup

Best for:

  • Nature lovers
  • Slow travel
  • Couples wanting quiet escape

Final Thoughts

What makes Antalya special is that it isn’t just one type of destination.

You can stay:

  • inside a historic old town
  • at a luxury coastal resort
  • beside a beach promenade
  • inside a nature-focused mountain village

…all within the same region.

If it’s your first time visiting, we’d personally recommend splitting your stay between:

  • Kaleiçi for atmosphere and culture
  • Lara for comfort and coastline views

That combination gives you the best version of Antalya.

And honestly, that’s exactly what made us fall in love with the city.
