Where to Stay in Hoi An & Da Nang – Our Favourite Areas (A Travey Club Guide)
When we were planning our trip to Hoi An and Da Nang, one of the biggest questions we had was where should we actually stay? Both destinations offer very different vibes, and the area you choose can really shape your experience.
During our visit, the Travey Club team explored several neighbourhoods, stayed in different hotels, and spoke with locals and other travellers along the way. What we realised quickly is that there isn’t just one “best” place to stay — it depends on the kind of trip you want.
Here are some of the areas we personally loved, along with a hotel in each location that stood out to us.
Hoi An Ancient Town – Best for First-Time Visitors

If it’s your first time in Hoi An, staying close to Ancient Town makes everything incredibly easy. Most of the town’s famous lantern streets, markets, cafés, and restaurants are all within walking distance.
One of our favourite memories was simply stepping out of the hotel in the evening and immediately being surrounded by lanterns, street food stalls, and music drifting from riverside cafés.
You don’t need taxis or bikes — you can just wander.
Hotel we loved:
Allegro Hoi An – A Little Luxury Hotel & Spa
This boutique hotel felt like a peaceful retreat just a short walk from the Old Town. The rooms were spacious, the service was warm, and the pool was perfect after long days exploring the heat of Hoi An.
An Bang Beach – Best for Relaxed Beach Days

If your idea of the perfect trip includes beach mornings and sunset cocktails, An Bang Beach is a fantastic place to stay.
It’s about 10–15 minutes from Old Town, but the vibe is completely different. Instead of busy streets, you’ll find quiet beach roads, laid-back cafés, and ocean views.
The Travey Club team spent one afternoon here and immediately understood why some travellers choose to stay for their entire trip.
Hotel we loved:
Aira Boutique Hoi An Hotel & Villa
This beachfront hotel has a relaxed, tropical feel with a beautiful pool and easy beach access. Waking up to the sound of waves instead of motorbikes felt like the perfect change of pace.
Cam Chau – Best for Nature and Quiet Countryside

For travellers who want something more peaceful but still close to the action, Cam Chau is a great middle ground.
This area sits between Old Town and the beach, surrounded by rice fields and small villages. When we cycled through the area early in the morning, it felt like a completely different side of Hoi An — quiet roads, farmers in the fields, and water buffalo grazing nearby.
It’s ideal if you want a slower, more local experience.
Hotel we loved:
Hoi An Chic Green Retreat
This boutique hotel overlooks rice paddies, and the setting is incredibly calm. The staff were also some of the friendliest we met during our trip.
My Khe Beach (Da Nang) – Best for Ocean Views

When we visited Da Nang, we immediately noticed how different the atmosphere felt compared to Hoi An.
Da Nang is a modern coastal city, and My Khe Beach is where most travellers choose to stay. The beach stretches for miles, and the area is full of seafood restaurants, cafés, and rooftop bars.
One evening we walked along the beachfront and watched the city lights slowly appear as the sun went down — it was easily one of our favourite moments in Da Nang.
Hotel we loved:
Sala Danang Beach Hotel
This hotel offers stunning ocean views and a beautiful rooftop infinity pool overlooking the sea. It’s also close to many of the city’s best restaurants.
Son Tra Peninsula – Best for Luxury and Nature

If you want something more secluded and luxurious, the Son Tra Peninsula just outside Da Nang is an incredible option.
This area is surrounded by jungle-covered mountains and hidden beaches, making it feel like a private escape from the city.
Driving through the peninsula felt like discovering a secret side of Da Nang — quiet roads, ocean cliffs, and incredible viewpoints.
Hotel we loved:
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort
This resort is easily one of the most spectacular hotels in Vietnam. Set across the hillside overlooking the ocean, the architecture and views are unforgettable.
It’s definitely a splurge, but if you’re celebrating something special, it’s hard to beat.
Our Favourite Way to Experience Both Cities
After exploring both destinations, our personal recommendation at Travey Club would be to split your stay.
Spend a few nights in Hoi An soaking up the lantern-lit atmosphere and historic charm, then move to Da Nang for beach views and city energy.
They’re only about 40 minutes apart, but they offer completely different experiences — which is exactly what makes visiting both so rewarding.
Whether you’re drawn to riverside cafés, rice field cycling, beachfront sunsets, or luxury mountain resorts, this part of Vietnam truly offers something for every kind of traveller.
And if you’re anything like us, you might arrive planning to stay for a few days… and leave wishing you had booked a week.
