3 Days in London: How We’d Do It (Without Burning Out)

3 Days in London: How We’d Do It (Without Burning Out)

London is one of those cities where you could easily fill two weeks and still feel like you missed something.

So when we had just three days, we knew one thing—we weren’t going to try and do everything. Instead, we focused on doing the right things, at the right pace, and staying somewhere that made getting around effortless.

Here’s exactly how we’d plan it again.

First Things First: Where to Stay

Before we even get into the itinerary—this made a huge difference.

We stayed around Covent Garden / Soho, and honestly, we’d choose it again without thinking twice.

Why?

  • You can walk to major landmarks like Big Ben, the London Eye, and the Thames
  • Multiple tube stations nearby (so everything else is easy)
  • Endless food options (this matters more than you think after a long day)
  • It still feels lively at night, so you’re not stuck in a quiet area

Our pick: The Resident Covent Garden
It’s central without being noisy, and after long days out, that balance really matters.

Day 1: London’s “Wow, I’m Actually Here” Moments

We started with the classics—but didn’t rush them.

Walking through St. James’s Park in the morning, with Buckingham Palace ahead and the city just waking up, felt surreal. From there, it’s an easy walk to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the Houses of Parliament.

But the best part? Crossing the bridge and seeing the skyline open up.

We slowed things down along the South Bank—coffee in hand, street performers everywhere, and no real plan. That stretch ended up being one of our favourite parts of the entire trip.

Evening:
We wandered into Covent Garden (again, this is why staying nearby is perfect), watched street performers, and found dinner without overthinking it.

Day 2: Culture, Wandering, and a Bit of Shopping

We kept this day flexible—and it worked.

Started at the British Museum, thinking we’d stay for an hour… ended up staying way longer. It’s one of those places where you just keep saying “okay, one more room.”

From there, we drifted into Soho and Carnaby Street. No strict plan—just walking, stopping for coffee, popping into shops.

Later, we took a breather in Hyde Park, which felt like a reset in the middle of a busy city.

Evening:
This was our “do something memorable” night—we booked a West End show.
And honestly? It was worth it.

Day 3: Food, Views, and That “Last Day” Feeling

We started early at Borough Market—and this was easily one of the highlights.

No structure, no rules—just eating whatever looked good. Fresh pasta, pastries, coffee… it adds up quickly, but in the best way.

From there, we walked to Tower Bridge and explored the area around the Tower of London.

By the afternoon, we wanted one last moment to take it all in—so we headed up to the Sky Garden.

Seeing London from above kind of brings everything together. All the places you’ve walked through suddenly connect.

What We Learned (The Important Part)

If you’re doing London in three days, here’s what actually matters:

  • Stay central (Covent Garden / Soho makes everything easier)
  • Don’t overschedule—London is best when you leave room to wander
  • Mix busy moments with slower ones
  • Some of the best experiences aren’t planned

We didn’t see everything—and that’s exactly why we’d go back.

Final Thoughts from Travey Club

London isn’t a city you “complete.”

It’s a city you experience in layers.

Three days is enough to fall in love with it—but not enough to get bored of it. And maybe that’s the whole point.
